This teacher training and in-depth study course with Bentley Storm, Ashley Pehrson, Shannon von Burns and Gopi Kinnicutt is designed to train you in the fundamentals of teaching Ha-tha Yoga (with an emphasis on vinyasa style), and to deepen your practice. HOT YOGA’s teacher training school meets the requirements set out by Yoga Alliance and is a Registered 200 Hour Teacher Training School. This means that the graduates of our school are qualified to register as a 200 hour yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance.
We believe our program to be the most comprehensive program in the area covering all aspects of the art of teaching; placing particular emphasis on practice teaching and receiving valuable feedback from your peers. Our program encourages you to step into your place as a teacher with strong foundational knowledge necessary to teach a safe, fun and effective class. Your life will be forever changed for the better as you find your inner voice and strength, and have fun while doing it! Students of Yoga looking to become teachers or simply having the desire to deepen their knowledge and practice of Yoga will find this course inspiring and practical.

The 200 hour program consists of 180 hours in contact with HOT YOGA Senior Teachers and 40+ hours of independent study and practice and includes unlimited access to regularly scheduled yoga classes and workshops while in training. The Training is laid out in a clear and concise format providing aspiring teachers with the tools they will need to teach a safe and effective class.Teacher training participants will learn Theory and Practice of Asana, Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama and Meditation Techniques, Anatomy and Physiology (both physical and energetic) and the Art of Teaching.

Requirements for Training:
Students wishing to enroll need to have a passionate interest in yoga and healing and a basic understanding of the practice of yoga. We ask that you have a consistent daily asana practice with a minimum of one year study of Ha-Tha yoga under the guidance of a teacher or teachers. Part of the study course will include required reading. Please be prepared to read during or prior to the course:

- Make up sessions are available at an added cost which will be assessed depending on the teacher and the amount of time needed.
- During the training (July 2008) participants will receive the student monthly unlimited rate to practice yoga of $45/month as well as 10% off any workshops and retail at the studio.

what to expect from a 200hr teacher training
You will a variety of sun salutations, including flowing in a mandala (circle).
1a. You will learn forward bends, back bends, twist, hips openers, inversions, arm balances, there correct alignment and form, there function and key positions.
2. You will learn how to teach both basic and intermediate poses; what the stages are and how to work with modifications.
3. You will be taught how to use the Bandhas (energy locks) and different kriyas.
4. Study the anatomy of the body.
5. Learn hands-on adjustments and enhancement.
6. Deepen your personal practice, understand your limitations and how progress.
7. Look closely at the alignment of a variety of yoga poses.
8. Learn the art of flow. How to sequence poses in a compatible way that is healing.
9. Discover the natural teacher within yourself. You will be given the opportunity to find your voice and what you have to offer to others.
10. Learn how to address the needs and challenges of your students. Develop empathy and compassion for your students and address their issues both physically and emotionally
11. Understand how to deal with injury.
12. Study yoga philosophy in depth through the Bhagavat Gita and Yoga Sutras.
13. Go deeper into meditation, praniyama and kirtan (chanting).
14. Understand the energy body, the chakra healing in yoga.
Module One
This module may be divided into two long weekends.
Every morning we will begin with meditation and praniyama, then dive into a 2 hour 30 minute yoga practice. This asana practice will empower you to face your edge, to explore sensations outside your comfort zone, and to remove old stuff. Using multi-dimensional flow, moving in a circle and rhythmic body vinyasa, you will be empowered to embody your body. through deep holding of posture, we aim to change the muscular memory patterns within the body.
Each afternoon will consist of 5 hour of interactive workshop study. Within this first module our main focus will be on the prana- life force or breath. We will study the function of the five main types of prana (life force). Where they reside in the body, how the prana vayu's moves and are activated within the body. Using the breath as the primary guide, you will learn what is a body vinyasa, how to pulse in a posture, exploring opposite and preventing rigidity.
We will take an in-depth look into understanding each major yoga pose and the correct alignment required in basic standing postures. We will look at the function of each pose, what part of the body one has to activate, where the anchor is and how one stimulates stability in the posture. We will also study how one may grow, rise and elongate in poses preventing ones energy getting stagnant or stuck. We will discuss opposite forces and how these opposites are stimulated using ones locks or bhandha and we will also look at how energy moves in each posture.
Based one the information learnt in each posture you will be guided in how to use hands on assist on a student.
In this module you will discover how to practice and teach different praniyama techniques. The skull shinning breath (kapalabhati breath), the nerve cleansing breath (nadi shodhana) and ujayi breathe. You will learn how each breath effects the nervous system, and when and how to teach the different praniyama techniques based on individual needs.
We will begin our study into the structure of the body, the anatomy of the body, major muscle and bone structures- what poses help serve different major muscle.
From day one you will be invited to explore and discover your voice regularly through practice teaching. You will be able explore designing mini waves (sequences), that lead to a greater mind body opening. Within this module we will also take a look at the eight limbs of yoga based on the Yoga sutra’s, and how we may apply this yoga philosophy in our lives.
Module two - Chakra exploration week
You will learn what are chakra’s, nadis and marma points. Where they are situated in the body and how they work.
Each morning you will experience a deep cleansing chakra yoga class that will allow your body to experience release and healing. From your personal experience you will understand the potency of energy healing in your yoga practice and this will empower you to connect with your student.
In this module we will study in depth each chakra starting with root chakra up to the crown chakra. Where they are situated in the body, the color, mantras used to open each energy center, and the emotions related to each chakra. We will look at the cause and symptoms of depleted prana and blockages within each chakra and ways to release ama or toxins using yoga as a tool.
You will learn where emotion is stored in the body, the corresponding marma points (pressure points) and high charge point, and how to stimulate, assist and release blockage in the body.
Within this module you learn the art of energy reading, invited to trust your intuition and explore ways to release struck energy. You will be trained to see with empathy and to connect with student, so that you will have the ability to heal as a teacher.
We will also look at how to teach one-on-one yoga, how to design a sequence according to the individual’s needs. What information and questions a teacher needs to ask prior the set up of a private class and also how to conduct an individual session.
Module 3- the art and healing and sequencing
Within this last section- we will study in-depth the art of sequencing. How to design a class that will address your audiences needs, create a safe environment to guide student to move past their comfort zones. You will learn the principle of multi dimensional flow (moving in a circle), and how to link poses together so that there is a gradual and organic opening in the body that will lead to a peak opening or release.
We will look at how to deal with basic injuries, how to modify a pose using props. We will look at chair yoga, and an overview of pre-natal yoga.
We will take a look at the power of voice, choice of words and how to develop your authentic voice as a teacher. You will be guided in how to market yourself as a yoga instructor and where to start.
Within this module we will be studying the Bhagavata - Gita. Discussing ways to take yoga off our mats and into our lives using the Bhagavata Gita as a guide. We will be studying karma yoga- the yoga of work, jnana yoga, the yoga of wisdom and bhatki yoga- the yoga of love. Gaining a deeper understanding of the yoga ladder and where we might be on the ladder. Through our studies we will be given greater insight on how to act.
